The thing you'll notice most about a hippopotamus [Nymo]
Is though it may be large it's not a ship or not a bus [Nymo]
Which 'tis a shame as surely it would fit a lot of us [Nymo]
And although it has a rather big bottomus [archaeopteryx]
It's the other end that causes all the fuss [archaeopteryx]
Save for an oxpecker, in a hippo's mouth anything will surely cuss [archaeopteryx]
Did you know that 'hippopotamus' means 'river horse'? [Grayman]
I think it's from the Latin, though it might be Welsh of course [Grayman]
And it takes an age to tap it out in code of Mr. Morse [Grayman]
With a mouth that closes with almighty force [archaeopteryx]
It seems endowed with Godly powers of Norse [archaeopteryx]
Though generally it's from eating copious amounts of borscht [archaeopteryx]
I know this from a New York Times undisclosed source [Francine]
